Forget the 21st century and go
back to medieval times for an action-packed day of battles,
parades and contests at historic Appuldurcombe House on the
Isle of Wight. Scheduled to coincide with the start of the
school holidays, on Sunday 29th July
Appuldurcombe is staging a Medieval Spectacular in
its extensive grounds near the Island’s south coast – and a
family of four can use a Wightlink attraction and
travel-inclusive Days Out ticket to get there for just £51 –
or £12.75 each (0870 582 7744/www.wightlink.co.uk.)
Rightly termed a ‘spectacular’, 120 car
loads of Medieval Siege Society enthusiasts from all over
the UK will converge on Appuldurcombe to re-enact a series
of costumed battles and victory parades – with a magnificent
final battle to watch in the afternoon. In addition there
will be bow & arrow competitions and falconry displays to
watch.
The entertainment kicks off at 10am and
runs until 4pm and visitors can get there using the
Wightlink car ferries running half hourly between Portsmouth
and Fishbourne or Lymington and Yarmouth.
