The Isle of Wight Steam Railway promises a great day out that everyone in the family will love. Step back in time and climb aboard the beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages hauled by a genuine vintage steam locomotive.
A wave of the guard’s green flag and it’s full steam ahead as you’re off on a leisurely 10 mile roundtrip journey from Wootton and Smallbrook Junction through the beautiful Isle of Wight countryside accompanied by all the evocative sights, sounds and smells of the steam engine.
Enjoy the passing scenery and be sure to visit the authentic period stations and the museum with its fascinating collection, from signalling equipment and old station signs to tickets and loco nameplates. You can even visit the carriage and wagon workshop to see how the trains are kept in tip-top condition.
Grab a bite or a drink at the licensed café, pick up a souvenir or two and give the kids time to let off some steam of their own in the playground or on the woodland walk.
