Wightlink is the largest and fastest ferry operator with over 68,000 sailings a year across the Solent, and sailings every half an hour in peak season. With a crossing time of only 30 minutes on our Lymington Route, and approximately 40 minutes from Portsmouth. At Wightlink we constantly strive to maintain and indeed improve a very high standard of customer service, below is a summary of our strengths.

Wightlink offers the most flexible service to the Island by virtue of our two Ro/Ro routes complimented by the sheer number of sailings

  • Fastest crossing in the West (and the East!). Approximately 40 minutes from Portsmouth, 30 minutes from Lymington

  • Over 68,000 sailings scheduled for 2006

  • Superb record of reliability, especially during inclement weather

  • Block bookings available for regular "scheduled" runs, even during busy holiday periods

  • Printed copy of block booking reservations confirmed to client

  • Charges only raised for vehicles shipped; no penalty for unused bookings

  • Credit accounts available

  • Invoices raised on a weekly basis for account customers

It is advisable to make reservations for all journeys to ensure availability of space. For one-off movements, please contact our reservations office:

When making your reservation, give the route, date and time of your preferred sailings both outward and return. If you will be travelling on a regular basis, please contact our bulk-booking section, details as above.
 

Abnormal Loads
The Portsmouth-Fishbourne route is especially suited to the shipment of abnormal loads, as the ships have double-width ramps and can accommodate extra long or heavy loads, subject to sufficient spread of weight.  

Vehicles with an overall height in excess of 4.20m may also be accepted, but it is essential that prior notification is given in all instances as shipment necessitates special scheduling.

Parcel Freight Service
Parcels freight up to 25kg may be shipped daily via Lymington to Yarmouth. 

This service is also available on our regular high-speed FastCat catamaran service between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier.

Hazardous Substances
It is now a legal requirement for the haulier to advise both the Harbour Authority and Wightlink, to obtain clearance for all hazardous cargoes being presented for shipment.
