If garlic is the Isle of Wight's most unusual crop,
the annual Garlic Festival is its most unusual event. Held over one weekend
each August, the festival enables visitors to try garlic neat, garlic
smoked, garlic prawns, even garlic ice cream.
Many of the local producers featured in the Wightlink
Food Trail take part as well so the Garlic Festival presents a great
opportunity to see what the Island has to offer food-wise.
In addition there are plenty of cookery demonstrations,
fun events for children and action displays to provide a great family day
out, for further information about this years event which is being held on
the 19 & 20 August visit

If you don't plan to visit the Isle of Wight in
August, there are plenty of other food-based events including Pancake
Tossing in Yarmouth (Shrove Tuesday), Apple Days (held at Afton Park) in Freshwater (September)
and the Ventnor Real Ale Festival in the town's pubs in October.
