IOW Steam Railway: Festival of Transport

19 May 2024

Isle of Wight Steam Railways presents the Festival of Transport. If you’re a vehicle lover, including cars, lorries, bikes, trucks and more, then this is the event for you!

Displays are curated with the pride and joy of individuals, from vintage trucks and old-fashioned bicycles to modern day beautifully polished cars. There is something for everyone.

Round up your day with a countryside cruise on one of their steam trains, which are reminiscent of Island transport from a bygone era. You can even wander over to the Train Story Discovery Centre to learn more about the history of the Island’s railway.

Entry to this event is FREE – please collect a free entry ticket at their booking office.

If you wish to board the steam train, usual operating day fares apply – book online to reserve.

Their Drewry Railcar, formerly from the Ryde Pier Tramway, will be in action throughout the day, offering short additional trips for train ticket holders. Please note that that the railcar has a limited capacity of 20 people and in unable to carry bikes, prams or wheelchairs.
