Fuel Surcharge
Due to the current high cost of fuel, Wightlink introduced a fuel surcharge which came into effect at 0001 hours on Friday 9th May 2008 and applies to all tickets purchased from this date onwards.
In order to make the fuel surcharge as transparent as possible, a sliding scale will be introduced that is linked to the price of oil (Brent Crude). The surcharge will rise if the price of oil rises further but will decrease if the price of oil falls.
The fuel surcharge will apply for each passenger or vehicle type for each leg of their journey.
The amount chargeable will be determined by the movement of the price of oil between set price bands (see table below).
From 0001 on Saturday 1st November the fuel surcharge will be band A.
The surcharge will be set at the beginning of every month based on the average price of Brent Crude in the previous month.

NB: If oil prices rise above $155 per barrel, then further surcharge bands will be created.
The fuel surcharge will be automatically included in the total fare quoted when booking online.
