We know how important it is to provide up to date travel information to our customers. We update the Service status section of our website routinely every morning and again if more than one sailing is delayed by 20 minutes or more since the last message was posted. We’ll post another update if delays reach an hour or longer and when we return normal service.
Strengthening work on Wootton Bridge (on the A3054 between Fishbourne and Newport), begins on Monday 16 November and will last up to 14 weeks.
During the work, between 07:00 and 23:00, only one lane will be open across the bridge at any one time and traffic lights will be in operation.
Isle of Wight Council imposed an 18 tonne weight restriction and 20 mph speed limit earlier in the year after cracks were found on the structure. These will be lifted after the work is finished.
Please allow more time for your journey during the roadworks.

We have begun major work to upgrade the electrical supply to our Portsmouth Car Ferry Terminal.
To minimise disruption, we have programmed this activity during the quieter time of the year and we will also restrict the hours to 9pm and 5am from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights to the following mornings. It began in mid-January and is expected to end early in March.
During this work, the electrical supply to the main terminal building will be turned off which means that the usual ticket office and rest area will be out of use.
However in order to minimise disruption, we will be setting up a temporary ticket office and waiting area in Costa Coffee opposite the main terminal building. Toilets will be available at the entrance to the terminal though not in the main building.
Passengers may be invited to board their sailing early, though should arrive as normal at least 30 minutes before the departure of their sailing.
At all other times when work is not being carried out, the terminal building and its facilities will remain in full use.
The upgrade is necessary to improve the power supply to the main terminal and we are confident that the steps outlined above will mean disruption will be kept to an absolute minimum.
