Island Line engineering work from 12 January 2015 for 10 weeks

A major ten-week engineering project to repair the storm-damaged rail network on the Isle of Wight will begin on Monday 12 January.

Trains connecting the Pier Head and Esplanade will maintain connections with Wightlink’s Catamaran service but the line will be closed between Ryde St Johns Road and Shanklin so that a permanent repair can be made to stabilise the slope at Sandown.

During the engineering work, a rail replacement bus service will run between Shanklin Station, Lake (High Street), Sandown (Broadway), Brading (Bullring) and Ryde St Johns Station. A revised train service will operate between Ryde St Johns Road, Ryde Esplanade and Ryde Pier Head. Smallbrook Junction will not be served during this time.

Rail ticket holders will also be able to use Southern Vectis Route 2 and 3 service buses between Ryde and Shanklin in both directions.

Plans are also in place to provide additional coach services on school days for the benefit of schoolchildren.

Portsmouth <> Fishbourne

Southern Gas Networks work from 12 January 2015 for 10 weeks

Ten weeks of works in Fishbourne Lane will begin on Monday 12 January.

Southern Gas Networks will be operating a 2-way traffic light system during the works which could cause delays to customers arriving at Wightlink’s Fishbourne Terminal.

Wightlink advise customers to allow extra time when arriving at Fishbourne to ensure check in 30 minutes before their booked sailing time.

Portsmouth – Ryde Catamaran Friday 20 February to Sunday 29 March

We know how important it is to keep investing in our ships and ports to make sure we run a safe, reliable and punctual service. Every one of our ships is fully maintained as part of our on-going maintenance programme including annual refits and services.

We undertake maintenance such as refits when we’re quietest. From Friday 20 February to Sunday 29 March, Wight Ryder I is undergoing her annual refit.

Wightlink is the only cross-Solent operator which routinely charters replacements when its ships are being maintained. Our published timetable has not been affected during this period.
