    Operating between Ryde Pier Head and Portsmouth, this is the best connected, most convenient ferry service for foot passengers. From Ryde Pier Head, the Island Line runs direct trains to Brading, Sandown, Shanklin and other stations. The Portsmouth Terminal is adjacent to Portsmouth Harbour railway station and the national and local bus interchange.

Yes, South West Trains Island Line runs direct trains from Brading, Sandown, Shanklin and other stations to Ryde Pier Head. Several Southern Vectis bus routes operate to Ryde Esplanade, from where you can walk to the Terminal or hop on the train.

Yes, car parking at the Terminal is available. Please note that a toll charge of £1 per vehicle for cars, light vans and motorcycles is payable at the entrance to Ryde Pier and this must be paid in cash at the coin-operated machine. The toll charge entitles you to up to one hour’s free parking. There is no charge for pedestrians or cyclists.

For longer stays, please buy your parking ticket from the Pay & Display machine or Wightlink Ticket Office.

Important Information
  • A weight restriction of 3 tonnes and height restriction of 2.25 metres applies to all vehicles using the pier.
  • A 10mph speed limit applies to all vehicles using the pier, including cyclists. Drivers exceeding this limit will be issued a fixed penalty notice of £80 and/or exclusion from Wightlink property and vessels.
