Robert Thompson welcomes you to his gourmet bolt hole The Hambrough on the Isle of Wight. Perched high above the crystal blue sea Robert and his team have an enviable position.

The quaint town of Ventnor makes an ideal setting for The Hambrough Restaurant and Rooms, stunning views out to sea, an award winning beach, fantastic walks and it’s own micro-climate are just a few of its qualities.

Having taken over in August 2008 Robert and his partner Diana have been working hard to establish their vision on this amazing Island. After only five months the Hambrough was awarded with 1 Michelin Star followed by 3AA Rosettes and 7/10 in the Good Food Guide. With seven spacious 5 star AA rated rooms and being only two and a half hours from London it’s the ideal place to dine, stay and explore.

The Hambrough currently has seven spacious rooms. Six of the rooms have fantastic sea views and one has equally fantastic views looking up to St Boniface Down.  Each room is equipped with flat Screen HD TV, DVD Player, Free Sat Channels and a Illy Coffee Machine. The rooms also benefit from fantastic en-suite bathrooms all with under floor heating.

The restaurant benefits from fantastic sea views and has a light and un-complicated feel. Diners can choose from the lunch, a la carte or the tasting menu. Robert embraces all that the island has to offer which can be seen in the menus throughout the year, locally landed fish, highland cattle from Wroxhall Cross farm, lamb from Dunsbury Farm and Kings Manor Farm, local game, Island tomatoes, garlic, honey, and so much more.
