The Island Planetarium offers a fascinating journey through time & space; stimulating your imagination & mind, in our astrodome theatre & exhibition. This man-made Universe will take you places you have never been before, from the surface of the Moon to the depth of outer space in our ASTRODOME 360 STAR-THEATRE. We run traditionally Planetarium shows using new Digital technology.
Before or after the show, make sure you leave time to explore the various space-science displays, space art and computer simulations in the exhibition area. There is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the work of the great scientist/inventor Robert Hooke, born in Freshwater in 1635.
The Island Planetarium is part of Fort Victoria Country Park a great day out for all the family, other attractions include, Aquarium, Underwater Archaeology Centre and Model Railway. Free parking! A cafe, woodland walks and a beach.
Opening Times and Special Events
Shows run 10.30am - 4.30pm in school holidays from April to October inclusive, with stargazing and evening shows on Wednesday evenings.
In Summer school term everyday at 1pm and 4pm.
November to March show at 2.30pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, previous day booking required by phone or internet.
