This museum pays homage to the King of the Seaside Postcard - Donald McGill. Donald made over 12,000 artworks spanning over 6 decades of the 20th century including World Wars, Suffrugettes, Motoring, Fashion, Lovers, Marriage, Drunks, Coach Tours and many more...

In 1953, 5 shops in Ryde were raided by the Police and 5,000 of Donald's cards were seized -  leading to thousands of cards being burnt under an order of destruction. A big show trial followed in 1954 where Donald was prosecuted under the 1857 Obscenity Act.
