V-Dub Island 2012- Thursday 2nd to Monday 6th August

The Isle of Wight’s first ever Volkswagen Enthusiasts’ event, V-Dub Island, today announced that the event would be returning in 2012, and will open its gates on Thursday 2nd August and run all weekend until Monday 6th August.

Organisers are looking to make the most of an extremely successful and well-received event in 2011, and to establish the event as a permanent fixture of the Island’s events calendar.

A spokesman for V-Dub Island said, “After the success of the event in 2011 I don’t think there was ever any doubt we’d be coming back to do another one next year. The after-show response we had was overwhelming, and we’re looking to build on the success of this year’s event.”

Plans are afoot to develop the more successful elements of the event, which saw hundreds of Volkswagens in attendance at the trouble-free family-friendly show. “We were thrilled with the numbers who attended last year, with all types of Volkswagen well represented. We’d really like to reiterate that this is an event all about the vehicles and the people who love them, and all types of VW are very welcome.”

Tickets for the 2012 event go on sale online from www.ticketline.co.uk at 9am on December 1st this year, and organisers are expecting a great response. “Getting on sale this early gives people more time to plan out their summer, and we’re going to be keeping the price the same as 2011 at just £25 for the whole weekend, with day tickets also available.”

“V-Dub Island 2012 is going to be another cracking event, with a whole load of petrolheads’ fantasies and all things VW. One of our music headliners is booked already, and there’s plenty more great entertainment to come. It’s a great value family weekend, so we look forward to seeing everyone there in 2012!

Dub Pistols to return to V-DUB ISLAND in 2012

V-Dub Island are proud to announce that, due to both incredible popular demand from the Volkswagen community and the fact that they were simply mind-blowing in 2011, the incredible Dub Pistols will be returning to headline Saturday night’s live music with a brand new set at this year's Volkswagen event.

Deserving winners of the DJ Mag Best of British Best Live Act Award in 2011, Dub Pistols tore the roof off the V-Dub Island stage last year, and event goers can expect much of the same from their electrifying new show in 2012.

Those visiting the event can also expect a full weekend of all things VW related, together with the return of The Supercharged Outlaws, who will be performing a fire up display and providing a detailed insight into their award-winning cars.

To add to the excitement, on Saturday morning V-Dub Island has again organised its annual drive-out through the Isle of Wight’s stunning countryside, which last year attracted over a hundred VW's and is expected to grow even larger this year.  The drive-out will culminate at V-Dub Island's adrenalin-fuelled surf competition, which is held against the backdrop of The Needles, one of the Island's most famous landmarks.

Continuing the adrenalin filled weekend, event goers will be able to enter into V-Dub Island's 2012 'Olympic Games', which are intended to mimic London 2012, but, of course, with our own unique VW twist.

As announced, the theme for this year's event is Caribbean Christmas, and event goers may find this year's purpose-built beach, which will be considerably larger than last year's at a whopping 21 tonnes of sand, the perfect place to relax and enjoy a pint of Dubweiser, V-Dub Island's specially-brewed beer.

For the younger event goers, there will be children's entertainers, the opportunity to paint and decorate a real VW beetle, and a sandcastle competition to name but a few.
For the bargain hunter, there will be an auto jumble, and various trade stalls, including VW Heritage.

With acts being added to the line up and traders being added to the event on a daily basis, and, of course, V-Dub Island's take on the traditional show and shine, the ultimate opportunity to exhibit your pride and joy, or indeed your rust-bucket, we are sure that this year's V-Dub Island will not disappoint.

Tickets for V-Dub Island are on sale now!
