A paraglider is launched from a hill or cliff and is simple to control, safe to fly and one of the quickest forms of aviation to learn. The sport began in the mid-1980s and is probably the purest and simplest form of free flight.

The unique Isle of Wight weather provides a large number of flying days. Couple that with 12 flying sites within a 10-mile radius and the advantages of this lovely corner of the world becomes clear. As a result, the Island has been the training ground for a large number of the UK's top pilots and has produced British and World Paragliding champions.
