One of the first pleasures of glider flying is the experience of making the aircraft respond to your wishes.
The sensation of flight is often very strange at first, but a new view of the Earth from 2000 feet above the ground soon overcomes these concerns as you look out for familiar and not so familiar, landmarks.
On your flight from Bembridge your Glider will be towed by a Piper Cub aircraft to a height of approximately 2000 feet. Your instructor will fly this part of the flight so you can fully enjoy the experience and the views unfolding through your canopy.
Once you have reached 2000 feet your instructor will release your glider from the tow plane and you will then be able to enjoy the full experience of glider flying. You will even have the opportunity to control the glider during your flight and really begin to appreciate the feeling of controlling your own aircraft.
So - whether you live on the Isle of Wight or whether you are planning a holiday or business trip to the Island - why not allocate some time to come and visit us at Bembridge Airport and experience the magic of flying a glider.
Fly from Bembridge Airport on weekends, and Bank Holiday Mondays. Wednesdays from April to October. Trial lessons, membership options and insurances are available.
Open: March to Dec. 10.30 to dusk
