Take an Autumn Walk on the Wild Side

Gearing up to celebrate its fifth birthday this year, the Isle of Wight Autumn Walking Weekend makes the most of the Island’s varied landscape, offering over 60 walks for all ages and abilities. Sponsored by cross-Solent ferry operator Wightlink, the four-day event takes place between 26 and 29 October 2012, covering beaches, woodland, cliff paths and even manor houses.

From wildlife and ghost walks to coastal and heritage trails, there are walks for leisure walkers, die-hard ramblers, families and even dogs.

Nature-enthusiasts can look for red squirrels and other autumn wildlife on the Brighstone Forest Safari, while families can enjoy a Woodland Tales story-walk around Dixon Copse. And singletons can ‘hunt down’ their ideal partner at the famous Speed Dating Walk, which has instigated three weddings to date!

If going it alone sounds like more fun, why not try one of Wightlink’s Wight Safaris? Our free Wightlink Safaris booklet reveals how to find walks in wild areas of the Island, with eight themed adventure walks to choose from. Explorers can set out on a Wildlife Safari to spot red squirrels and water voles, discover some of the Island’s best oak specimens on the Tree Safari, or see the homes of celebrated Victorian writers on the Heritage Safari.

Join in on the festival fun and get walking!
