With so many delicious festive roasts on special this holiday season, it’s the perfect time to set out on a ‘Roast ‘n’ Ride’ on the Isle of Wight. This winter, cycle off the holiday blues and cosy up in a pub, as you cruise along Wightlink’s range of cycle trails. From family friendly routes to more intense trails for die-hard cycling enthusiasts, there’s something to suit everyone.

Explore Sandown on a five mile scenic route with many viewpoints and rest stops along the way – perfect if you’re new to cycling or if you’re looking for a relaxed ride. The trail passes popular attractions like Dinosaur Isle in Sandown and the Roman Villa near Yarbridge before leading you to the warm and friendly Yarbridge Inn.

If you’re looking for a more challenging ride, the Cowes to Bembridge route is the one for you. Start your ride in East Cowes and venture down the trail that passes Osborne House on the way to Wooton, where the cosy pub, The Woomans Arms awaits. Hop back in the saddle and head towards Ryde for a stop at The White Hart Inn before reaching Bembridge for a wholesome roast at The Propeller Inn.

Finally, lose yourself in the breath-taking views on the coastal path from Ryde to Brading. Pass through scenic Seaview where a roast lunch pit stop at The Boathouse Inn cannot be missed. If a refreshment break is in order, then a stop at The Spinnaker will fit the bill. Cycle on to Brading, down country lanes filled with new vistas and paths suitable for Island exploders, before calling it a day.
