Pink seagulls and ferry pictures delight Wightlink’s customers

Artwork by Portsmouth artist Lizzie Cornelius is now on sale at Wightlink’s ports and car ferries.

As part of Wightlink’s policy of working with local traders, the Isle of Wight ferry company approached Lizzie to supply coasters and keyrings for its Wight Taste outlets. Best-known for her trademark cheeky pink seagulls, she also paints views of busy Portsmouth Harbour and the ships that come and go, including Wightlink’s fleet of car ferries and FastCat foot passenger catamarans. The cheerful designs feature in merchandise such as mugs, clocks, cushions and bags as well as prints, posters and the key rings and coasters.

Wightlink Head of Retail Dan Haynes says: “Lizzie’s coasters and key rings make perfect souvenirs and join our range of gifts at all our outlets. This is part of our retail strategy of supporting local businesses.”

“Portsmouth Harbour is full of life,” says Lizzie. “There so many subjects for me to paint, especially the ferries which carry thousands of people every day and there’s a pink seagull in every image, if you can spot them.”

Lizzie has always loved being creative but started off combining her artistic talents with working with the Inland Revenue. She took courses in stained glass, ceramics and art and design before opening a studio at the Hotwalls in Old Portsmouth. Lizzie is now based at the Porter’s Lodge in the Historic Dockyard, where she can be seen producing original artwork and a wide range of items is on sale.
