Wightlink joins Wave 105’s Mission Christmas

Wightlink Ferries are supporting Mission Christmas, run by Cash for Kids – the charity arm of the region’s leading radio station Wave 105. The appeal will help youngsters who might not get a Christmas present this year.

Toys and gifts suitable for children and teenagers will be accepted at Wightlink’s ports at Portsmouth, Lymington, Ryde Pier, Fishbourne and Yarmouth until Sunday 17 December.

Cash for Kids Charity Manager Sam Tanner says: “Thousands of children in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are living in poverty. So many are at risk of waking up without presents to open because Christmas is a luxury their families just can’t afford. It’ll be like any other day and Mission Christmas is here to make a difference.”

As part of the appeal, school staff, social workers, GPs etc across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight can nominate children at risk of having no presents at all this Christmas and apply for gifts on their behalf. Full details can be found on the Mission Christmas website.

Wightlink Commercial Director Phil Delaney says: “We are thrilled to join Wave 105 and Cash for Kids in this fantastic campaign to support families who need a little extra help at Christmas. Colleagues are looking forward to accepting donations which will definitely bring smiles to young faces on the big day and we will be contributing to the appeal ourselves.”

Wightlink’s ports are open from early until late while services are running (24 hours a day at Portsmouth Gunwharf and Fishbourne car ferry terminals). Exact locations of all drop-off points can be seen on the Mission Christmas online map. www.wave105.mission
