Islanders are being offered the chance to whizz across the Solent to Portsmouth for a sparkling family night out at one of the South Coast’s largest firework displays.
Wightlink is offering a ‘children go free’ discount for families attending the annual Gunwharf Quays Fireworks Extravaganza on Thursday November 9 2017.
Supported by Wave 105, the event marks the start of the festive season at Gunwharf and attracts over 15,000 revellers every year. This year, Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle will be sure to make things go with an extra fizz when she performs her new single as part of the evening’s entertainment. Another special guest star is also to be announced for the event which will raise cash for Barnardo’s children’s charity. The show runs between 6-7pm.
To make this an ideal family night out, Wightlink will be allowing up to two children (aged between five and 15) to travel free when an adult day return ticket is purchased for the Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth FastCat crossing*.
Wightlink Business Development Director Clive Tilley says: “We are always looking to help Island residents enjoy events on the mainland and the annual Gunwharf fireworks provide a fabulous evening out for all the family. We hope our offer will enable Island families to enjoy a spectacular and affordable evening out.”
