All fares

Travelling to the Isle of Wight has never been more convenient or more enjoyable.

On all three of our ferry routes we sail every half hour during peak times. Our FastCat catamarans make the crossings in around 18 minutes and our car ferries in around 40 minutes. On board you’ll find plenty to entertain you; spacious lounges, comfortable seats, bar/café areas plus large observation decks with some of the best views of the Solent you can find! On our flagship St Clare there is even a children’s play area.

All tickets purchased from 9th May will be subject to a fuel surcharge.

Payment by cheque

Please be aware that Wightlink will no longer be accepting cheques as payment for tickets or goods in any of our terminals, retail outlets or onboard our vessels from 1 May 2008.

We believe that customers will benefit from this change as it will result in improved efficiency and increased security for both customers and the company.

Wightlink would like to apologise to passengers for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Booking Tips

  • For vehicle travel, a quote can be obtained by visiting our booking engine and selecting the crossing and party details for your trip (there is no need to register) or by calling us on 0871 376 4342.   Thereafter normal fares will apply either through the Reservations Office or at our Ticket Offices. In most instances fares will be cheaper if paid for in advance. To make a booking please telephone our Reservations Office on 0871 376 4342 or book online.

  • Prices vary by day of scheduled sailing. Generally fares are lower for travelling midweek or Saturday or Sunday out of peak periods.

  • Prices vary by time of scheduled sailing. Generally the fares become lower the later in the day that you travel i.e. after 0955, 1300 or 2045 hours. At these times up to three additional passengers travel free on many of the fares.

  • Prices vary for length of stay away. A stay away of up to 4 nights is generally cheaper than a longer stay, for example.

General Information

Help for the Disabled Traveller
Our staff will make every effort to ensure your journey is a comfortable and pleasant one. If you require assistance in any way, please inform a member of staff when you arrive at the terminal, or on board, and we will be only too happy to arrange for someone to help you. Our Portsmouth-Fishbourne ferries have lifts from the car decks to the passenger lounge, where you will find disabled toilet facilities and all our terminals have wheelchairs available. If you wish to arrange assistance in advance, please call us on 0871 376 4342. Please Note: There are independent wheelchair accessible taxi services available on the Isle of Wight, please call for contact details of these companies.

Wightlink offers a discount to holders of the ‘Wightlink Disabled Persons Card’. For details and an application form, please telephone 0871 376 4342 or click here.

Safety and Security
The security of the vehicle and its contents is the responsibility of the driver or owner. Loose articles should be locked away or removed and you are advised to retain possession of anything valuable, such as cameras and binoculars. Sporting guns or other firearms are not permitted on the Portsmouth Harbour-Ryde Pier Head service. On car ferry crossings these items must be declared upon entry to the terminal area prior to boarding. (NB: Ammunition may not be carried, other than shotgun cartridges).

Foot Passengers: For safety and security reasons, all passengers who embark as a foot passenger BUT leave the ferry in a vehicle, are requested to notify a member of staff before disembarking.

On the Car Deck
Please remember to deactivate your vehicle motion alarm, as the inadvertent sound of alarms restricts the ability of others to hear safety announcements. You are not permitted to carry petrol in cans, nor empty cans which have contained petrol unless they have been thoroughly cleaned. Vehicle fuel tanks should not be overfilled to cause spillage. Gas cylinders to the maximum of three per vehicle may be carried in the user vehicle provided they are adequately secured and turned off at source. Up to twelve small expendable cylinders may be carried but they must not be open or part-used. Any compressed gas should be declared upon entry to the terminal.

Smoking - Please note that Wightlink operate a no smoking policy. Smoking is not permitted on board our vessels except on the open sundecks and is strictly prohibited on the car decks.

Mobile Phones Please note that for safety reasons mobile phones MUST be switched off whilst driving on and off all ferries.

Travel Insurance
Our special insurance scheme is available to all Wightlink customers. We strongly advise that all customers take out travel insurance when making their booking.

Port Maps
Port maps are available upon request from our enquiries and bookings line, 0871 376 4342, or can be viewed online by clicking here.
