Cowes Classics WeekBook
Organised by the Royal London Yacht Club which is also based in Cowes, the annual Cowes Classics Week has become a highlight of the classic yacht racing calendar since being founded in 2008. All sizes and styles of boats take part in this regatta and often race together using a handicap system to determine the overall winners. It has a very well established social scene, so there’s plenty of colour around the harbour as well as some very beautiful yachts to enjoy at close quarters.
This year’s chosen charity for the event is National Coastwatch – Needles Station, a voluntary organisation set up in 1994 to restore a visual watch along UK shores after many small Coastguard stations closed
Spectators can enjoy the atmosphere of the town and Cowes Yacht Haven whilst watching the yachts racing out on the water from the Parade or by walking along the seafront to The Green. Racing is from 29 July.
