This fantastic festival is an absolute must for any foodie.
Situated in the glorious, rolling hills at the heart of the Island, the Isle of Wight Garlic Festival is one of the world’s largest celebrations of the piquant bulb. But it’s not just about garlic. There’s also live music, great entertainment, arts and craft stalls, a fun fair, talented animals, cookery demonstrations from the best Island chefs, and a great big beer tent to help you wash down all of the mouthwatering food on offer. The Isle of Wight Garlic Festival is a feast for every sense!
The IOW Garlic Festival 2020 promises to be one of the most incredible yet. Since its inception in 1983, the Festival has grown to become one of the Island’s biggest and most eagerly anticipated events. The event centres around Britain’s most pungent and delicious garlic, with garlic products, garlic-infused meals, and garlic-themed crafts on sale, plus plenty of cookery demonstrations showing garlic fans how to get the absolute most out of the Isle of Wight’s flavoursome bulbs. You can even try some garlic fudge!
There are also children’s entertainers and talented animals, an exciting fun fair, local businesses and market stalls showing their wares, live music on the large stage, and a wealth of scrumptious foods. Meats, cheeses, honey wine, biscuits, ice cream, mushrooms, bread…if you can possibly pair garlic with it, you’ll find it here (visitors are advised to arrive hungry). Wash it all down with some beer from the beer tent, and you’ve got a recipe for the perfect family day out.
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, but owners are asked to be diligent in picking up after their pet. On-site camping is for traders only, but there are plenty of campsites and other forms of accommodation nearby, for those who wish to make a weekend of it.
