The Mary Rose

Located in the historic waterfront city of Portsmouth, Henry VIII’s flagship the Mary Rose gives you a comprehensive and fascinating insight into life in Tudor times.

After sinking during the Battle of the Solent in 1545, it was raised from the seabed in 1982 – one of the greatest maritime archaeological feats to date. It’s now the only 16th century warship on display anywhere in the world and, naturally, comes with a rich and colourful history.

And now, thanks to cutting edge technology, you can see that history brought to life at the award-winning Mary Rose Museum. Explore the decks of the Mary Rose, view the many salvaged objects, discover the ship’s crew and even handle a piece of history all in one place.

On site, you’ll also find a café serving hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and cakes – and it all comes with stunning views across the historic waterfront.

Dive into history with the new interactive experience, Dive The Mary Rose 4D! Relive the incredible story of the world’s most famous shipwreck, from its discovery to excavation and raising, in an immersive adventure that’s perfect for the whole family.

What’s more, the Mary Rose is only a few minutes’ walk away from both our Portsmouth Gunwharf and Portsmouth Harbour ports.

So what are you waiting for? 500 years, a heartbeat away.
