Wightlink gets the party started – Radio X sounds the Friday Horn on a ferry to launch Portsmouth’s Victorious Festival

Radio X was on board a Wightlink ferry in Portsmouth Harbour to officially start the 2018 Victorious Festival in Southsea by sounding the horn on board St Clare just before she set sail to the Isle of Wight.

Just after 5:00pm, Johnny Vaughan’s sidekick Little Si pressed the button to sound the Friday Horn on the Bridge of the ferry under the watchful eye of Captain Joe Bowry. The event was broadcast live on Radio X and livestreamed to the festival ground where the popular radio presenter was waiting to get the Bank Holiday festivities underway.

“Victorious is a fantastic festival and we look forward to bringing Isle of Wight music fans across the Solent to take part. We were honoured to get together with Radio X to get the party started,” says Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield.

The Libertines and Kaiser Chiefs start the Festival tonight, other top names taking part include Paul Weller, Brian Wilson, the Happy Mondays, Paloma Faith, and The Prodigy.
