Checking in

  • As a foot passenger, you'll need to check in no later than 15 minutes before your scheduled sailing.

  • If you have an accessible travel booking, you must check in no later than 30 minutes before your scheduled sailing, but no earlier than one hour before.

  • We will try to accommodate late arrivals (those up to 2 hours late), provided there is space to do so, on the next available crossing. If you arrive more than two hours after your scheduled sailing time, a new ticket will need to be purchased.

Accessible travel

If you have a disability, reduced mobility, a medical condition or just need some extra assistance, get in touch with us at least 24 hours before you sailing and we should be able to help. You could also save money on your sailing with our Blue Badge discount.

Taking your bicycle

You can bring your bike along for free when you travel by foot on one of our ferries. Our FastCats, which run on the Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde Pier Head route, come equipped with bicycle racks to keep your bike safe throughout your crossing.

If you’re travelling to the Island, there are over 200 miles’ worth of stunning cycle routes for you to enjoy – check out Wightlink Explorer to find your new favourite.

Getting to the Isle of Wight by train

If you’re coming down to the Island by train from anywhere in the country, head for Portsmouth Harbour or Lymington Pier railway stations. Both stations are right next to our ferry ports, so we can get you across to the Isle of Wight in no time.

Getting around the Isle of Wight on foot

There are plenty of onward transport options once you’re on the Island, with a comprehensive bus service run by Southern Vectis and the Island Line train service, which links Ryde Pier to Shanklin, via Brading, Sandown and Lake. There’s also the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, a gloriously retro way to explore the Island.

We offer combination tickets – bundling together ferry and train, ferry and bus or ferry and steam railway tickets – which offer great value for money.
