Vacancy: Engineering Officer (Fixed Term)

We are looking to recruit Engineer Officers to join our team in Portsmouth on a Fixed Term Contract starting in April 2021 to cover our summer period.

  • Portsmouth to Fishbourne ferries

  • Notional 35 rostered hours per week

  • £21.95 per hour (£16.46 per hour whilst training)

Key elements of the role are:

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in achieving the technical standards on board
  • Ensures the effective implementation of the associated areas of the Safety Management System
  • Ensure repairs are carried out in a timely manner and to a good standard

We are looking to recruit Engineer Officers to join our team in Portsmouth on a Fixed Term Contract starting in April 2021 to cover our Summer period.

The successful candidates will preferably hold a Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency although a minimum Engineer Officer of the Watch Unlimited Certificate is acceptable. The Engineer Officer assists the Chief Engineer in achieving the technical standards on board and ensures the effective implementation of the associated areas of the Safety Management System. Self-motivation and discipline are essential to ensure assigned duties are satisfactorily undertaken and completed.

As a technical professional the role requires the use of best practice for:

  • Environmental responsibility
  • Flag and classification standards
  • Planned maintenance

In addition, expertise will be required to ensure repairs are carried out in a timely manner and to a good standard.

Effective liaison with Senior colleagues ensuring full clear and concise communications is essential to enable effective performance of the Engine Room Team.

As an Engineering Officer you will be employed on a 6 month Fixed Term Contract to cover our Summer period from April 2021. You will be required to work across all days of the week including weekends and Bank Holidays.

In return we offer the opportunity to work at sea but still go home at night!
