Explore the Isle of Wight’s fascinating Jurassic history at Dinosaur Isle.
As Britain’s first dedicated museum for all things dinosaur, it brings together an esteemed collection of over 1,000 fossils, life-like technology and fun interactive displays.
The Isle of Wight is internationally-renowned for its dinosaur remains and, over 120 million years ago, used to be the ideal environment for dinosaurs to roam in.
Inside Dinosaur Isle, you’ll first find an exhibition gallery where you’ll learn all about the geology and fossils of the Island. Then, it’s onto the huge dinosaur gallery, full of real fossils, skeletal and fleshed reconstructions and two animatronic dinosaurs. There is even a working laboratory on view.
Displays are designed to work all your senses, with clever lighting, artwork and even smells making for an immersive experience.
If learning about dinosaurs makes you peckish, you can hop next door to Browns Cafe where they serve delicious light lunches, homemade cakes and barista-style hot drinks.
Open all year-round, the museum, suitably shaped like a giant pterodactyl, is situated in Sandown on the east of the Island. It’s easily accessible by car from our Fishbourne port or, if you’re coming on foot, you can get the train directly from our FastCat terminal in Ryde. Book your ferry crossing today.
