Mottisfont

With a medieval priory at its heart, Mottisfont‘s extraordinary 18th century house is surrounded with ancient trees, rolling lawns and babbling brooks.

Its history is rich with artists who came to relax and create work inspired by Mottisfont’s past, including a magnificent drawing-room painted by Rex Whistler. With a permanent 20th century art collection and major exhibits in a top-floor gallery, Mottisfont continues its artistic tradition to this day.

Outside, there’s a feast for senses all year round with carpets of spring bulbs, a walled rose garden, rich autumn leaves, a colourful winter garden and Mottisfont’s world-famous collection of old fashioned roses which flower once a year in June.

There’s space to run, jump and play, and always something for families to do, with activity trails in school holidays and a special family exhibition every summer.
