St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery

Exploring the history of Lymington and the New Forest Coast, St Barbe Museum and Gallery is inspired by local pride and supported by the local community. It has colourful collections and hands-on displays which offer a fascinating insight into the area for all ages.

With exhibitions changing every eight weeks featuring a wide range of subjects throughout the year, you are bound to see something new every time you visit. Their exclusive exhibition programme combines loans from the country’s finest public and private collections with the best of local art to create inspiring shows of regional and national significance.

The collections illustrate the story of the area, from prehistory to the present day, and represent life in the coastal strip of the south of the New Forest. These include home life, industry, trades, shops and more.

What’s more, they even hold an extensive photographic archive of the area, which are used for educational work with schools, families, the elderly and special interest groups.

St Barbe’s Museum and Gallery is only a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive from our Lymington port, so pop along and learn all about the local area.
