Donkeys at Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary

Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary

Walk, groom and pet gorgeous donkeys and ponies at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary.

Entry to the Sanctuary is free and there’s more than 120 animals for you to get to know. They live in over 60 acres of beautiful countryside and have a variety of indoor stables, barns and shelters to make their lives as comfortable as possible.

The donkeys can be stroked and petted, and there’s even the opportunity for donkey grooming, donkey walking, Shetland walking and a half day donkey experience session during your visit.

At the site, you’ll also find the Sanctuary cafe, where you can grab a bite to eat and a hot drink, as well as a gift shop.

IOW Donkey Sanctuary run a host of events throughout the year and even give you the chance to adopt a donkey, an initiative which helps fund the charity.

Open seven days a week, all year round, it is based between Shanklin and Ventnor, on the east of the Island. Free parking is available on site.
