The Isle of Wight will become the hub of international chess this February as elite players from all over the world gather in Ryde.

Spanning six days, the prestigious event offers an engrossing blend of high-stakes competition and the charm of a beautiful seaside setting.

Key tournament highlights

  • Masters Tournament (9 rounds): Open to players with a FIDE Classical rating of 1600 or higher. Ideal for those chasing FIDE norms or simply aiming for strong classical competition.

  • Weekday Tournament (7 rounds): A slightly shorter option running Monday to Friday, finishing Friday morning for those unable to commit to a full week.

  • Weekend Congress (5 rounds): For players keen on a shorter burst of classical chess over the weekend.

  • Side Events & Blitz Activities: Including a mid-week Blitz tournament, a GM simultaneous exhibition, plus social chess, commentary, and evening events in town.

The tournament welcomes juniors players and the facilities on site make it the perfect place for families to attend and show support.

Entries are now open via the official tournament site. Masters entries require a minimum FIDE rating of 1600 at time of registration.
