Portsmouth International Kite Festival

26 – 27 July 2025
Southsea Common

Recognised as one of the best kite festivals in the world, Portsmouth International Kite Festival, jointly organised by Portsmouth City Council and The Kite Society of Great Britain, is a spectacular event with kite fliers from all around the world.

The annual Festival returns to Southsea Common in 2025, offering an awe-inspiring backdrop overlooking the Solent. With plenty of open space and strong winds, kite-flyers can show off their creations to their fullest potential.

The sky is filled with kites of all shapes and sizes, ranging from single line kites to cellular kites and 3D soft kites. Each one is intricately appliquéd or painted with magnificent designs, allowing visitors to appreciate the craftsmanship behind each piece. The skillful teams and individuals that fly the kites perform a variety of tricks and ballet routines, choreographed to music, adding an extra element of delight.

Alongside the kites is an array of food, drink and local business stalls.

There is something for everyone at the kite festival, from experienced flyers to those who just admire the beauty of the amazing collections on display.
