Impact on services & sailings: revised services

This timetable update was added: June 2, 2019
Service suspended Lymington to Yarmouth: From Wednesday, 1 April 2020
Lymington Yarmouth

Service suspended Lymington to Yarmouth: From Wednesday, 1 April 2020

Service suspended from Wednesday, 1 April 2020.

We will be suspending our Lymington-Yarmouth route from the last sailing on Tuesday 31 March, until normal services can be restored. This is because of the escalating Coronavirus outbreak. Volumes of traffic on this route have fallen dramatically following the Government’s direction to non-essential workers to stay at home and we have sufficient capacity on our Portsmouth-Fishbourne car ferries to carry all freight and other essential services to the Isle of Wight.

Suspending the route will minimise the dangers to our colleagues and customers contracting COVID_19 and the disease spreading into the community and also enable us to use some key skills of our colleagues on that route to reinforce our major freight route between Portsmouth-Fishbourne. Wightlink are determined to keep open our principal car ferry route at Portsmouth-Fishbourne and taking this action now will really help us to do that through the crisis.

We all love the Lymington-Yarmouth service and it is heart breaking to have to suspend it just when we are planning to expand. As soon as this COVID-19 crisis has passed, we fully intend to re-open.

Temporary timetable from Tuesday, 24 March 2020 till Tuesday, 31 March 2020.

We have made some change to our timetable, as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. Fewer people want to cross the Solent at present and the government has advised not to travel unless it’s essential.

To limit the exposure to our teams and other travellers, essential travellers travelling by vehicle are asked to check in at least 15 minutes but no more than one hour before the scheduled sailing time and foot passengers at least 15 minutes before the scheduled sailing time.
