Isle of Wight roadworks in early 2026

Between January and April 2026, roadworks will be taking place both in and near to Ryde which may affect your journey. Read below for a full breakdown of these works.

Island Roads - carriageway reconstruction works

Island Roads will be undertaking carriageway improvement works on Binstead Road in Ryde. The works will be split across two phases:

  • Phase One will take place between Monday, 5 January and Friday, 30 January 2026. This affects the section between Ringwood Road and Stonepitts Close.
  • Phase Two will take place between Monday, 13 April and Friday, 24 April 2026. This affects the section between Stonepitts Close and Gwydyr Road.

A full, 24 hour road closure will be in place for the duration of the works so please allow extra time to reach our ports if using this road.

Southern Water - Elenors Grove Water Main Renewal Scheme

From Friday, 2 February to Friday, 27 March 2026, a one-way system will be in place for traffic travelling eastbound on Elenors Grove.

Light vehicles will be diverted through Newport to Ryde via The Downs Road and Ashey Road. HGV’s will be diverted through Newport to Ryde via the A3056 and A3055.

Access to the Fishbourne car ferry service will be via the A3054 westbound from Ryde only. Please allow extra time to reach the port to check in for your booked sailing.
