Wightlink and Stagecoach partner to promote through ticketing for NHS patients

Wightlink has partnered with Stagecoach South to provide patients living on the Isle of Wight with transport links to their appointments at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.

The new ferry and bus ticket scheme means that patients living on the Isle of Wight are able to get to their appointments at the hospital without the stress of navigating to the hospital and worrying about what tickets to buy. It also means they can leave the car at home too.

Patients are able to relax on board Wightlink’s FastCat from Ryde Pier and the bus from Portsmouth Harbour transport interchange all the way to their appointments.

Patients can buy their bus voucher along with their ferry ticket from the Wightlink ticket offices, and then to redeem the bus voucher they simply hand it over to their bus driver, who will replace it for a bus ticket for their return journey.

Wightlink Chief Executive, Keith Greenfield said “We know many of our FastCat customers may be on their way to appointments at the Queen Alexandra Hospital. This new combined ticket will help make their journey easier and smoother”.

Stagecoach South Customer Services Director, Keith Gait added “It’s great that we’ve been able to set this scheme up with Wightlink. It provides patients with an end to end sustainable travel solution, as well as taking away some of the anxiety passengers may have in taking the trip whilst under treatment or caring for someone undergoing treatment.”
