Wildheart Animal Sanctuary in Sandown have just welcomed two new members, brother bears Benji and Balu.

It was an honour to be a part of their journey to Wildheart Animal Sanctuary as we carried them across the Solent to their new home.  The bears had an unfortunate start to their lives, spending years as ‘restaurant bears’ in a concrete cage on the side of a restaurant.

Thanks to the hard work of Wildheart Animal Sanctuary and the generosity of the community, after two years, the bears have finally reached their forever home on the Isle of Wight – a carefully made habitat that encourages all their natural behaviours, allowing them to rehabilitate from their previous traumas and give them the opportunity to become bears again.

We have this special offer for you to visit Benji and Balu with 20% off your ferry travel. The journey from our ports to the sanctuary is easy:

• If you’re travelling on foot via our Portsmouth to Ryde route, you can jump on an Island Line train or a Southern Vectis bus and be with the bears in less than an hour.
• If you’re travelling by car via our Portsmouth to Fishbourne route it’s just a short 20-minute drive.
• If you’re travelling by car via our Lymington to Yarmouth route it’s a scenic 35-minute drive across the Island or under two hours by public transport, where you can see some of the most stunning views of the Island on your way.
