Wightlink is one of the UK’s largest domestic ferry operators, providing a link between the Isle of Wight and the Hampshire mainland.

Based at our Gunwharf terminal, Portsmouth the successful applicants will have knowledge of MCA requirements and hold a minimum OOW III/1 Certificate of Competency.

The Engineer Officer assists the Chief Engineer in achieving the technical standards on board and ensures the effective implementation of the associated areas of the Safety Management System. They will be self -motivated and disciplined to ensure assigned duties are satisfactorily undertaken and completed.

As a technical professional the role requires the use of best practice for:

  • Environmental responsibility
  • Flag and classification standards
  • Planned maintenance

In addition, expertise will be required to ensure repairs are carried out in a timely manner and to a good standard.

Effective liaison with senior colleagues ensuring, full, clear and concise communications is essential to enable effective performance of the engine room team.

Employment will initially be on a 6-12 month fixed term contract basis for a notional 35 hour working week. In return we offer a competitive salary and the opportunity to work at sea but still go home at night!
