Wightlink Proudly Supports Military Personnel with Free Remembrance Travel

Wightlink is once again honoured to support the Island’s veterans and serving military personnel by offering complimentary foot passenger travel across the Solent during the Remembrance period.

From Saturday 8 November to Wednesday 12 November 2025, all current and former members of the armed forces can travel free of charge on any Wightlink service from the Isle of Wight. This initiative enables veterans and serving personnel to attend Remembrance events and pay tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

To take advantage of the offer, eligible passengers simply need to present valid military ID or veteran ID at a Wightlink customer service point before boarding. Each veteran or service member may also bring one accompanying foot passenger free of charge, ideal for a partner, carer or family member travelling with them.

Tony Gear from Veterans Outreach Support said: “We’re delighted that Wightlink is once again offering free crossings for Isle of Wight veterans and military personnel to attend Remembrance events on the mainland.

“An opportunity like this is invaluable, as reconnecting with fellow veterans helps combat isolation and supports overall wellbeing. This initiative means they can reunite with old comrades to remember together and honour those who lost their lives while serving.”

Wightlink Head of Customer Experience Sara Howden, said: “We are proud to welcome veterans and serving personnel on board our ferries and FastCats during the Remembrance period. It’s a small gesture of appreciation for their dedication and service to our country.” Wightlink will also observe a two-minute silence across all their fleet on remembrance Sunday.
