Freight: a railway tamper coming off a Wightlink ferry at Fishbourne, Isle of Wight

The weird and wonderful world of ferry freight

We’re experts at transporting freight across the Solent and are very proud to work with businesses all around the country.

No two days are the same for our Sales team.

The £45million investment in a hybrid energy flagship, Victoria of Wight, and improved port facilities at Fishbourne and Portsmouth has opened up a whole world of possibilities for our customers and we regularly carry every type of freight vehicle, from commercial vans to double-deck articulated lorries.

We frequently carry locomotives for the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, cherries, sweetcorn and other fresh produce for farmers and wild animals for the Island’s zoos and animal parks. Sometimes our port colleagues have just centimetres to spare when transporting luxury lodges for holiday resorts on the Isle of Wight.

Our ferries carry the infrastructure for the Isle of Wight Festival and many other events throughout the year – including fencing, lighting, staging, temporary offices and golf buggies!

Many supermarkets who have invested in larger and more energy-efficient lorries for their national fleets and we’re able to carry these easily with our double-deck capacity.

Just ask us if you have an unusual logistical challenge and we’ll see what we can do!
