The world-famous Round the Island Race is a one day, non-stop competition that pits the sailing skills of Olympic champions against amateur club sailors, first-timers and families.
Over 1,500 yachts and 15,000 sailors are expected to take part on the 50 mile course this year, making it one of the largest races of its kind across the globe.
Starting in Cowes on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line, the race will head west to the Needles, around St Catherine’s Point and then back into the Solent to finish. There’ll be a number of vantage points on the Island from which to capture the glory of the competition.
Head over to the Island with Wightlink and you will be well placed to see the fleet at two of its best observation points. If you get our Lymington to Yarmouth car ferry, you’ll be moments from Scone Point, where you can see the early section of the race or, if you hop on our Portsmouth to Ryde FastCat, you’ll land directly on the pier – a great spot to catch the latter stages.
