Protecting the environment

Our environmental commitments to the land

We’re continually looking for ways to reduce our environmental footprint by making effective use of resources, reusing where possible and recycling whenever we can.

Targeting single use plastics

Wooden cutlery has replaced plastic, we have milk jugs instead of single-use jiggers in cafes and we encourage those signing up to our MyLink scheme to use the app rather than applying for a plastic membership card.

Recycling rather than landfill

In 2019, we recycled more than 133 tonnes of waste – the same weight as ten buses. Any non-recyclable waste is used to generate electricity.

Discounts for people with travel mugs

Wightlink’s cafes offer a 25p discount on hot drinks if you bring your own reusable mugs along. With your help, we’ll save thousands of paper cups.

Sustainable print

All paper and signage we use are from sustainable and ecologically-responsible sources – either FSC or PEFC certified and purchased through reputable paper merchants..

Our printers are constantly reinvesting in new technology that can help us produce work with less waste. All paper waste and plastics are collected by our printers and 100% is recycled. All printed products supplied are also recyclable.
