On the weekend of November 23-25, Seaview will be hosting a fish and seafood-themed weekend.
The popular sailing village, on the north east coast of the Isle of Wight, is home to some of the Island’s finest foodie hotspots and they’ve joined forces to create some fabulous fish dishes.
Kicking off on Friday evening – November 23 – The Old Fort on the Promenade will be serving traditional fish and chips for just £10 a head. Supper will be accompanied by Sea Shanties from the local Fun Choir – join in and sing or just listen while you eat.
On Saturday – weather permitting – visitors can enjoy a walk from The Old Fort to Ryde Canoe Lake. This gentle stroll along the Seafront is two miles long – and there are plenty of cafes along the way for refreshment, between collecting pebbles, shells and seaweeds of course.
That evening, try the specially created three-course dinner at Seaview Hotel & Restaurant for just £28 per person. The menu will include some unusual fish options and each dish on the menu will have expertly matched wines which guests can order.
On Sunday head to the Sea View Yacht Club at midday. Enjoy a fishy quiz followed by a special fish dish (or if you prefer, you can have a traditional roast lunch) from £11.50.
During the weekend. Lily’s – Seaview residents’ favourite café – will be serving fishy treats including prawn cocktails and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Throughout the weekend, The Old Fort will be serving mussels, crab and other fresh fish and LPs – newly opened on Seaview’s High Street – will offer seafood on hot volcanic stones.
And don’t forget to pay a visit to the Community Shop to buy some unusual fishy ingredients for creating your own meal at home. Or enter the fishy window competition where you could win a bottle of Mermaid Gin.
