As one of the UK’s favourite walking and cycling holiday destinations, the Isle of Wight is perfectly equipped to welcome foot passengers. If you’re travelling on our FastCat, here are some of our favourite days out from Ryde.

1. Enjoy the Island’s beautiful coastline

Ryde bus station is located on the Esplanade next to the pier, and during the summer months you can catch the Island Coaster open-top service all the way to the Needles via some of our most picturesque villages. What better way to see one of the Island’s most fascinating landmarks than by combining it with stunning scenery and a stress-free ride?

2. Steam ahead on the train

The Island Line train service runs from Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin, so perfect for when you disembark the FastCat. Purchase an Island Liner Day Rover and enjoy a day of unlimited travel on the Island’s trains. If you change at Smallbrook junction, you’ll board the Isle of Wight Steam Railway which is included in your Day Rover ticket. Hop off at Havenstreet to step back in time at the Train Story Discovery Centre.

3. Get on your bike

Wightlink welcomes bicycles on its FastCat service, so when you arrive in Ryde you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to trails to explore. If you’d like a gentle, flat ride that ends with tea and cake, head to Quarr Abbey in Fishbourne. Alternatively, you could ride towards Seaview and Bembridge where you can visit the windmill and see the house boats.

4. See some of our furry friends

We have plenty of four-legged friends and winged beauties for you to meet. Hop on the number 9 bus to visit Butterfly World and Monkey Haven, or the number 8 to Sandown for the Isle of Wight Zoo and Amazon World. You’ll be spoilt for choice!
